Life-Line support (IP/ power failure over relay)
網路斷線或者是電源被切斷的時候，切換成relay
relay的意思是re-establish,set up again 重新建立連線
整句話的意思是當網路斷線或者是電源被切斷的時候，仍然能使話機有作用，能保持通話
不會因為gateway失去作用而停擺。
但要注意的是，這裡的通話特別指的是PSTN (局線)。
PBX不適用
架構圖如下
PSTN-----FXO-----GATEWAY-----FXS-----PHONE
比較能夠感覺到他的作用 是在地震或者是一些緊急情況，
在沒有太多的思考能力下，拿起電話做撥打
很難考慮到他是網路電話者是普通電話。
拿起來就撥打119,110
原理 透過Relay 將供電端由FXS轉成PSTN 能夠正常通話
可以用下列的方法來實驗該功能
再沒有電源的情況下
在FXO 插上PSTN
在FXS 插上話機
看看話機是否能正常進行通話
While disconnecting to internet or losing the power supply,the gateway will switch to "relay mode" automatically
relay means re-esablish , set up again
It means While disconnecting to internet or losing the power supply,you still can use the phone which pluged to FXS port to make a call.
It won't lose the basic call function even if the gateway is dead.
But,the call here is particulary limited to PSTN call.
Not a PBX
The scenario is as bellow
PSTN-----FXO-----GATEWAY-----FXS-----PHONE
The importance of this function is hard to find.
But try to image this,an earthquake or other emergent situation happened.
Need to grab a phone to make a call urgently.
It's not possible to distinguish a power-failure VoIP phone or a normal analog phone at that time.
but,with this function,it's not needed to tell.
Just pick the phone up and dial 911 without hesitations.
So,
This is also why it's be called life-line.
How to test it.
It's able to test this function with these steps.
pull off the power adaptor of gateway,we don't need power
connect PSTN line to FXO
connect analog phone to FXS
To see if you can make a PSTN call via the analog phone which is connected to a gateway without power.
PS. PBX use the same power as gateway generally.
When the gateway has power failure,mostly the PBX go down as well.
